Generative AI in the Classroom

Promptology AI In the Classroom Front Page Issue 9.jpg

Practicebasics was founded to provide essential resources to health professionals navigating their clinical and business environments. In 2023 our mission expanded to include the integration of Generative AI (Gen AI) for clinicians and educational professionals.

Introduction to Generative AI

This free and frequently updated tutorial covers five modules:

1 - The origins and architecture of  Gen AI

2-  The ethical use and un-ethical misuse of Gen AI

3 - Knowing What's Noe

4-  Prompt Basics

5 - User Case Examples

Promptology

At the core of leveraging Gen AI's power is the quality of the prompt. Reflecting on the "GIGO" (Garbage In, Garbage Out) principle, the quality of the question often determines the quality of the response. "Promptology" is a newsletter examining the art of crafting effective prompts. As of this writing, there are 10 issues, with the latest published on August 1st.

Article Archives

Since January 2023, Practicebasics has curated and categorized articles on Gen AI. These are available online in the article archive, updated biannually. The most recent update, covering January through June 2024, is available here.

Whitepapers

Given my client base of educators and clinicians, I have published two whitepapers: "AI in the Classroom" and "AI in the Clinic." These are updated monthly with new information and expanded to address recent developments in their respective fields.

The series on "AI in the Clinic" and "AI in the Classroom" have been updated with new links - as well as a major editing effort to continue Practicebasic's goal to present the information as efficiently and directly as possible.

The advancements and issues regarding generative AI are accelerating and amplifying.  To that end, as we engage the classroom and the clinic in its use, the need for clarity and direction is becoming clearer.

Two documents are provided in the AI in the Clinic PDF that are universally appropriate - a draft template of a "Statement of Generative AI Policies" and a draft template of an "Employee Code of Conduct".

Introduction to Generative AI

This free course of five PDF documents is provided to give students, professionals, teachers, and healthcare professionals a working knowledge of generative AI. The course is divided into five “white papers”:

This archive is designed to complement Practicebasics’s “Introduction to Generative AI” course and support efficient access to ongoing learning resources for this dynamic new technology.

Practicebasics Whitepapers

In addition to the Promptology newsletters and article archive Practicebasics maintains two dynamic whitepapers: AI in the Classroom and AI in the Clinic.
